SDE Spawn Point

Not much of an update here, but I have been painting occasionally, hoping to complete the base SDE pack so that the group will be able to have a game with a fully painted set of heroes and monsters.

I painted the dragon clutch in base colours a while back, but recently finished it with the extreme highlights. I am fairly pleased with the results, and painting in exaggerated anime style for the SDE minis has been quite rewarding so far. I have learnt how to make my minis ‘pop’ with extreme colours, and this is something new for me as my miniatures usually appear pretty dark and low in contrast.

Looking forward to Relic Knights

Of all the Kickstarters that I’ve backed, I think I would have to say that I am looking forward to Relic Knights (RK) the most. I have been a big fan of miniatures wargames, and although I do not get to get as many games as I would like to, the main draw of the hobby is really the painting. Painting miniatures is a source of relaxation for me, and I do enjoy fielding nicely painted armies on the battlefield.

Relic Knights harks back to the old school anime styled action battles, where fists fly, characters crash through the battlefield, and people with huge-ass guns and weapons do battle with one another. As you can see from the pictures below, the models are characterful and gorgeous looking. I have no doubt that Soda Pop Minis will produce a gorgeous product, based on the beauty that Super Dungeon Explore was.

Noh Empire

Instead of a dice mechanic, RK has opted to use a card based resolution system based on their own resource – the Esper. Think of Espers as a fuel for the the various powers and abilities that the characters possess. Playing a combination of them as the cost of the power then activates the power. Seems fairly simple. I’ve backed enough for 2 factions and a couple of unit boosters, so that should give me a very decent sized army to play with my gaming group for a while. I have also gotten a good number of Kickstarter stretch goals with the deal, so it is a pretty insane set of minis that are coming my way.

In the last couple of weeks, I have received various emails from Soda Pop Minis showing previews of the various boxed sets. I am assuming that they are almost ready to ship these out to us. Definitely looking forward to it!

While the Kickstarter has ended for some time now, do check out the link and learn more about it.
